Mission-Support Initiative Brings Women in Conflict Areas into the Peace Process
Ambassador Susan D. Page and Jonglei State Governor Kuol Manyang were the keynote speakers at the Jonglei State Women’s Empowerment for Peace Conference, a USG-supported initiative that trains women from all eleven counties of the State in peace -building and conflict mitigation techniques. Large-scale, inter-communal fighting has affected the people of Jonglei State for decades. The Mission supports initiatives aimed at bringing women into the peace process as women, children and the elderly are often the most impacted by conflict
